Modern Society vs Morality

A description of which society?: a culture of immorality, all but totally abandoning the institutions of marriage and family values, principles of life in procreation along with the general acceptance of abortion and contraception, unwavering acceptance of divorce, social and legal acceptance of homosexuality, newly established fellowships in paganism, genocide against the unborn more commonly out of convenience preceded by uninhibited promiscuity and negligence, a consistent growth in the rate of multiple and mass murders both within families and among the general public, murder/suicides; the adoption of “legally” accepted devaluation of life of senior citizens within society reducing their access to medical procedures based on economic valuation under adopted standards established by politicians determining value of life proportionate to age and estimated longevity or “human monetary worth”, with the option to “assist suicide” for those refused medical treatment based on age while growing ever closer toward selective euthanasia.

We are a nation born less than 250 years ago, much younger than most other societies throughout history and destined at our current rate, if compared to the fall of other societies throughout history, to fall by our own doing. Every society in history that abandoned itself of morality, ethics and self respect collapsed but few have collapsed so early on in there own time.

The description above fits perfectly with our society as it has perverted itself over the last 50 years, but it goes much further than that. It is something written centuries upon centuries ago quoting historic accounts of another society as well. It is taken from historic accounts of the Social adoption of perverted practices of the Caligula Society during the 1 century Roman Empire. What then can we say if this description is a historic account of the deterioration of that society history has recorded as ruled by a mad, insane ruler, which today mirrors our current society? We therefore can relate our social conscience accordingly.

Romans CH1; 18 The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. 20 Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; 21 for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. 22 While claiming to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes. 24 Therefore (due to false idolatries), God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. (Biblical note: [24] In order to expose the depth of humanity's rebellion against the Creator, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts. Instead of curbing people's evil interests, God abandoned them to self-indulgence, thereby removing the facade of apparent conformity to the divine will.)

25 "...They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, 27 and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. 29 They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips 30 and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents. 31 They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them."

In the not so distant past, parents made sure the time was set aside for their children to be educated not only “right from wrong” but also the practice of their family’s faith. A parent saw to their children’s knowledge of God, and understanding of respect and morality. There are those who do continue these teachings today but how many can from their heart honestly make such a claim? How many of our children are nearing or have reached adulthood without any real knowledge or faith in God. Or do we find it just barely possible to teach what we think is “right and wrong” with the time we have? How many of us once had God in our own lives but lost awareness over time?

Divorce and often its end result, single parenting was nowhere near as prevalent as it has become today. According to today’s morality, divorce often seems to offer a more convenient alternative to the responsibilities of working on a marital relationship, its commitments and sacrifices. ...Unplanned Pregnancy? Again, according to today’s outlook, abortion often offers a more convenient alternative to the responsibilities of parenthood. ...Taking the time teaching our children about faith and God, ethics and morality? Programs and cartoons on DVDs and TV or “kids networks” often seem to offer a more convenient alternative to the time it requires fulfilling these responsibilities because “we just don’t seem to have time.”

Mat CH24; 6 And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places: 8 Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many. 12 And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold. 13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.

Many avoid anything that interferes with what is considered most convenient and self-gratifying while pursuing their ambitions. They have detached themselves from God with an ever-growing distance. In the process we have unwittingly abandoned our souls and persistently risk the salvation of our children for our own goals. We have set materialism on a pedestal like the golden calf and have abandoned God and the value of family in setting our individual priorities, or they rank way down the list. Most often it is self-pride and ego that are the underlying forces demanding satisfaction. Pride and ego are also spoken of in The Holy Bible as the foundation of sin.

What are our Priorities? How many people stand in lines for hours or camp out for days at a time to purchase toys, cell phones, electronics or tickets for sporting events or shows and we’ll buy them because we “have to have them”. Yet how many Christians are there who rarely if ever go to worship let alone raise their children taught in the knowledge of faith and love of our Lord?

How many of those under the age of eighteen who have taken multiple lives before taking their own were raised in a family practicing their true Christian faith or at least knew of Our Lord? And what will we take with us of this world when we leave this life behind? Is the limited time we spend on earth more precious than the eternal life we are offered by our Heavenly Father? How long will it take for that new car to rot into worthlessness after we drive it off the lot?

"For it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."

In relationships, whether faith in our friend, our husband, wife, doctor, preacher, priest, or our Lord, without faith, there cannot be a true, confident relationship. Without knowing the person there is no relationship at all. Yet no test of faith can exist where all the answers are known. There, knowledge and discernment replace true faith. In any relationship, regardless of whether it is with another person or our Lord, faith must exist in whomever the object of our love may be in order for the relationship to survive because, unlike our Heavenly Father, we cannot know what is to come in the future to know where a relationship will lead us. So it is that our faith is weak.

During recent years at the hands of those representing us in government and most recently and profoundly the presidency, historic events will record our establishment and endorsement of laws providing our acceptance for numerous immoral and in some cases perverted practices not limited to the acceptance of same sex marriages and abortion. It will record our conversion to a socialist form of government if we remain complacent with our elected official’s representation of their own agendas rather than the majority of citizens they are suppose to be representing. All these together are the complete destruction of the covenant of marriage, family and procreation and freedom governed by one nation, once under God.

Same sex marriages for instance defy science; defy nature; defy morality and God’s intent for creation. But there are those who support it with no reasonable basis to make their support credible other than their “it’s all good” liberalism. Let’s consider abortion. What is abortion? Simply and truthfully it is the selective elimination of the most vulnerable of human life by the elements of murder. For convenience rather than the assuming of responsibility, we indirectly or directly choose to brutally and sadistically take the life of a fetus which realistically we know is a human being but some attempt to argue at what point one becomes human “technically”, as though we can determine when God would find it acceptable to terminate at leisure. Now, considering our forefathers believed in God as our Creator as well as the charity, humility and morality taught in Scripture, let us consider what God has to say;

“Thus says the LORD, Your redeemer, who formed you from the womb: I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens; when I spread out the earth, who was with me?” (Isaiah Ch 44: 24)

“…For your own lifeblood, too, I will demand an accounting: from every animal I will demand it, and from man in regard to his fellow man I will demand an accounting for human life.” (Genesis CH 9: 5)

Do we fear God's wrath? We better.

Some politicians claim these acceptances are to support each person’s dignity yet where is the dignity in promiscuity which leads to unwanted pregnancy… Where is the dignity in pregnancy outside of a marital relationship, and where in all earth is there dignity in the aborting or murder of human life or supporting such practices? How does one justify such an accepted practice that now often results in multiple abortions as a form of birth control itself in place of chastity or even a reasonable effort of self-control through self-respect? Isn’t the protection of human life historically recorded as part of our Declaration of Independence as well as an expression of the belief in God? Where also is dignity in the methods of abortion now sanctioned by the passing of laws and promotion of tax dollars to pay for abortions by our most recent president.

We are working diligently to eliminate the words “In God We Trust” from our currency. Is it that we no longer trust Him? Or is it we no longer believe in Him. We are, in a growing number of our states, supporting the legalization of “same sex” marriages and some barbaric means to pursue stem cell research. We have “drive-by” shootings and assaults performed against our youths by our youths; We discipline children for outward signs of affection when they so much as hug a friend; We produce serial killers who can select people at random, look down the sights of a sniper rifle while hidden and end a life for amusement; We have school massacres performed by our children gunning down our children; fathers and mothers not only killing each other but killing their own infants and children before committing suicide; We have families destitute and living in cardboard boxes under bridges while some corporate executives receive hundreds of millions of dollars in bonus money in one quarter (not including their regular income). Many institutions including commercial businesses will not allow employees to say the Words “Merry Christmas” as a greeting. But it still represents the Celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ whether some like it or not. And on it goes as if the time will never come that we will have to answer for the transgressions of the society we created.

A large number of us claim there isn’t the time to really think about it because of the hustle of daily life. Some of us blame God for the negative events that occur in our lives but curiously we never seem to blame satan’s influence. And how often do we sincerely thank God for anything let alone every gift we have been given? Do we thank Him for our health, friends, our spouse and loved ones, those prior relationships we have had with those who have passed, the gifts we have received and the talents we have been given? Do we realize that although we may be able to strengthen those gifts or talents, we do not control the decisions of others who judge us by our talents and abilities when it comes to our progression in society? Do we thank God for the Gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, and do we Thank His Son for all He suffered to offer us eternal life?

There are those who avoid attending church to worship our Lord because they are only willing to selectively accept parts of the church’s teachings while rejecting the doctrines they don’t agree with as though God’s word is flexible and we only have to live by what we find convenient. Have you ever heard someone claim they are a “Christian” but believe in “the right to choose”? Choose what… and why don’t they ever finish the sentence? A person either believes in God or doesn’t... Regardless of the “denomination” of Christian faith, either one is truly a Christian or not, there’s no middle ground other than that place satan would have us occupy.

To some, practicing their faith is too inconvenient “… it’s what is in your heart that counts so practicing your faith as the Church teaches is not important as long as your intentions are good and you treat others “appropriately.” This is misguided to say the least.

Throughout our nation’s history, Americans have exclaimed “God Bless America”. From Battle cries to bumper stickers, we exclaim this to show our belief in God and allegiance, pride and support of our country. Even September 11, 2001, when our homeland came under direct terrorist attack, our response was again, “God Bless America".

Almost everyone it seemed went out and attended their church and offered prayers, but how long did it last before they drifted away once again out of apathy? When it happens again and we suffer the destruction and loss of numerous lives, will we run back into church? Yet few people realize instead of praying for our survival after such attacks, they could be praying for our safety from such evil.

So the time to raise the question is now. Do we have the right to ask for God’s blessing as we now stand, or is it time we start earning it back?
